Hotel Grand Chancellor Hobart

The Hotel Grand Chancellor Hobart is located at 1 Davey Street in Hobart which is close to the CBD, Salamanca area etc.

The Hotel Grand Chancellor Hobart Standard Room, Mountainside was a huge room with plenty of space and a King size bed. The room was clean and housekeeping could not be faulted. There is parking underneath the hotel which was included. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Crowne Plaza Melbourne Australia

This is not a bad hotel although architecturally it is a bit weird. Unfortunately through no direct fault of the Crowne Plaza Melbourne there is a really bad downside to this hotel.

The Wharf Hotel is right next door and the Wharf Hotel runs a night club that is open until at least midnight and Friday, Saturday and Sunday night there is the imposition of a extemely loud nightclub sound system that really penetrates the rooms in the Crowne Plaza Hotel.

Jetstar Price Add-ons

It has reached the point where I think in future I will pay extra rather than fly Jetstar at anytime there are other options. Jetstar base fares are not too bad although by the time you complete the booking process and pay for all their additional add-ons it really does not seem at all worth it.

Take for example booking a flight with JetStar departing Sydney and arriving in Hobart on a Wednesday for a base fare of $79 per passenger and a return fare on a Sunday of $149 per passenger totalling a basefare of $228 per passenger return.

Regal Hotel Chek Lap Kok Airport, Hong Kong

We stayed at the Regal Hotel at Hong Kong airport back in 2010 for a couple of nights and thought that the 24-hour stay  blocks they offer from when you check in to be a terrific idea. Back then we arrived in Hong Kong earlier in the morning and were able to proceed straight to the hotel reception where we checked in without a problem and the room was large and comfortable with a great outlook over the airport. The train between the airport and Kowloon or Hong Kong Island is very convenient between the airport and these locations.

Finnair 69 Helsinki (HEL) to Hong Kong (HKG)

The scheduled flight time nine hours and 50 minutes Finnair 69 Helsinki (HEL) to Hong Kong (HKG)  departs Helsinki at 11:40 PM local time and arrives at Chek Lap Kok Airport, Hong Kong at 3:30 PM Hong Kong time. The aircraft to used on this flight was an Airbus A340.

It was interesting watching the aircraft being de-iced to remove the buildup of snow and ice from the wings just before we pushed back from the gate.

Luckily most people kept their window blinds closed until closer to the end of the flight so a lot of the time was passed sleeping.

Hotel Haven Helsinki

Hotel Haven is located very close to South Harbour and is only a short walk to the main train station or Mannerheimintie and the main city shopping areas.

This is a very nice hotel staff were extremely pleasant and friendly plus the included breakfast buffet was very clean with a good selection of food and drinks.

Although the main hotel entrance is on Unioninkatu there is a courtyard area which leads onto Etelaranta very close to the covered market and the adjacent markets along Esplanadi.

Finnair 3244 Rome (FCO) to Helsinki (HEL)

This Finnair flight was on an Airbus A321 from Rome to Helsinki. From the departure gate in Rome all passengers board a bus which transports everyone way around to the other side of the airport to board the aircraft via stairs.

Finnair aircraft are always clean and the decor light and bright. Flight time was approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes and an interesting feature is the nose camera feed into everyone's seatback LCD monitors during takeoff and landing.

The Finnair cabin crew were all extremely pleasant and happy throughout the entire flight.
